This is a great opportunity to join our dedicated QSSHE team at Perenco, where you will be responsible for delivering the Occupational Hygiene program.
The primary focus of this role is the anticipation, recognition, evaluation, and control of workplace health risks across Perenco UK operations in the Southern North Sea. Continual improvement and standardization of monitoring, auditing, and reporting systems are core components of this role. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with statutory provisions, codes of practice, good practices, industry guidelines, and promoting a positive approach to workplace health risks.
This position is based in our Norwich office, working Monday to Friday, with some travel to offshore and onshore sites as required.
Key Responsibilities Include:
1. Work with medic/HSEA’s and operational teams to review Health Risk Assessments, identifying hazard categories, hazards, health impacts, routes of entry, and required exposure monitoring/health surveillance programs.
2. Deliver occupational hygiene plans related to exposures and health risks from chemical, physical, biological, psychosocial, and ergonomic factors, including but not limited to:
* Hazardous Substance Management and COSHH risk assessments
* Chemical workplace exposure monitoring (e.g., benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylene, mercury, lead, chromium, solvents, cement-based products, welding fumes, toxic gases)
* Asbestos Management and surveys, including material and priority risk assessments
* Noise and vibration management and assessments
* Radiation management and assessments
* Thermal hazard, potable water, communicable diseases, mould, animal/insect hazards, DSE, fatigue
1. Recommend and design control strategies.
2. Monitor and evaluate control strategies (e.g., LEV/PPE/RPE testing & inspection).
3. Deliver occupational hygiene training (e.g., asbestos awareness, dust procedures, PPE/RPE use).
4. Ensure assurance processes (inspections and audits) cover all operational sites, including accommodation and welfare areas.
5. Maintain calibration systems for occupational hygiene equipment.
Key Requirements Include:
1. Occupational Hygienist working towards or holding a BOHS Certificate of Operational Competence, via:
* Qualifying BOHS degree or
* Combination of BOHS W & P modules
6. Minimum 2 years’ experience in occupational hygiene, including measurement techniques.
7. Drive and passion to champion occupational hygiene and workplace health risks.
8. Excellent communication skills for presentations and various mediums.
9. Ability to meet tight deadlines and produce high-quality work.
