Job Description
Your Role
An opportunity has arisen for a Mill Operative in Edinburgh, UK. The main purpose of this role is to carry out various duties to support the efficient running of a modern flour mill. Site hygiene tasks will be the primary duties, requiring maintaining high hygiene standards in line with food safety requirements. Other responsibilities include supporting other functions, learning how to test flour, operate the weighbridge, and drive a forklift truck.
Your Responsibilities
1. Work safely by adhering to the site's "only zero is acceptable" safety policy.
2. Ensure high standards of cleaning and hygiene to achieve audit readiness (including GMP audits and accurate record keeping).
3. Assist the Technical Services Supervisor in effective pest control management.
4. Complete the hygiene schedule and communicate effectively with department heads to prioritize tasks.
5. Maintain cleanliness of site facilities such as offices, toilets, locker rooms, and the canteen.
6. Manage waste and environmental controls, including segregation and disposal procedures.
7. Coordinate with waste recycling contractors, including ordering and managing skips.
8. Control relevant consumable stocks.
9. Participate in Integrated Pest Management (IPM) activities on site.
10. Provide ad hoc cover for weighbridge and flour testing.
