Fast forward a few years, and Buns From Home is now a fast-growing family of bakeries dotted across London, loved for our iconic buns and exciting weekend specials. We're a cheerful, close-knit team passionate about constantly creating really, really delicious bakes that leave our customers happy and full.
Role Overview
The Head of Operations is responsible for overseeing the operation of 25 bakeries and a central production kitchen, ensuring a consistent performance. This role oversees the day-to-day operation with focus on improving standards, streamlining logistics and maintaining quality control with a commercial mindset.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Strategy and Process Improvement
* Oversee daily operations across all 25 sites, ensuring consistent quality, efficiency, and brand standards.
* Lead the central production kitchen to ensure reliability, product consistency, and cost-effective production.
* Develop and implement standard operating procedures.
* Drive continuous improvement across all operational processes and facilitate collaborative and efficient workflows.
* Implement smart ways of working operationally.
Bakery and Team Leadership
* Management of our senior site management team, the neighbourhood managers.
* Identifying training gaps and collaborating with the relevant departments on training strategies and implementation.
* Encouraging positive culture and developing policies that compliment the operation.
Central Production Kitchen and Logistics
* Oversee production planning, logistics, and distribution from the central kitchen.
* Ensure food safety and HACCP compliance.
Product Focus
* Ensure quality is maintained across the sites.
* Drive sustainability and waste reductions processes.
Health and Safety
* Ensure all sites meet operational and food safety regulations.
* Lead audits and risk management initiatives.
Finance & Commercial
* Robust commercial awareness of the business unit economics and drivers.
* Strong understanding of forecasting and P&L’s.
* Data driven decision making.
* Collaborate with procurement to maintain strong supplier relationships in a cost effective manner.
Required
* 5+ years of operations leadership experience, preferably in a bakery, food production, or hospitality environment.
* Understanding of bakery production processes.
* Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
* Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.
* Experience with scheduling, understanding of inventory management, and process optimization.
