This university is seeking a dedicated and experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join our Estates & Facilities team. You will be responsible for maintaining and improving the mechanical systems that support our vibrant academic, research, and residential environments.
Your new role
* Perform planned and reactive maintenance on mechanical systems including HVAC, boilers, pumps, and plumbing.
* Diagnose faults and carry out repairs to ensure minimal disruption to university operations.
* Support the safe operation of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems across campus.
* Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and statutory requirements.
* Collaborate with other engineers, contractors, and university departments to deliver high-quality service.
* Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and system performance.
What you'll need to succeed
* NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services.
* Proven experience in mechanical maintenance, ideally within a large or complex estate.
* Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, boilers, and plumbing infrastructure.
* Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Good communication and teamwork abilities.
* Understanding of health and safety practices and legislation.
Desirable
* Experience in a university, hospital, or public sector environment.
* Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS).
* Gas Safe registration or relevant certification.
