NHS Grampian is seeking an innovative and forward‑thinking Consultant in Public Health Medicine / Consultant in Public Health to join our progressive team.
Position Overview
This is a permanent post for 10 sessions (40 hours Medical and Dental, 36 hours Agenda for Change) per week, based in the beautiful North East of Scotland. The Public Health Directorate is an integrated collaborative team of Consultants, Nurse Specialists, Public Health Practitioners, Public Health Analysts, Public Health Researchers, Public Health Managers, and Public Health Academics, working with local authorities and other partners.
Successful candidates will be employed on the Health Protection Team (indicative 5 PA) and will provide Population Health Screening Programme Coordination (indicative 3 PA).
Key Responsibilities
* Provide Population Health Screening Programme Coordination.
* Undertake supporting professional activities including training and teaching or pursue sub‑specialty interests.
* Engage in continuing professional development and research.
* Develop academic links with the University of Aberdeen and pursue joint appointments.
Qualifications & Registration
Full registration with a licence to practise with the GMC is required (licence must be in place prior to starting in post). Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register from the date of interview.
CESR (Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration) or Portfolio Pathway route doctors are eligible to apply for a substantive Consultant post only after CESR or Portfolio Pathway specialist registration is awarded. Doctors with an International Recognised Specialist Qualification approved by GMC should have a confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register.
Non‑medical candidates must be registered as a specialist on the UK Public Health Register. Successful non‑medical candidates are appointed on Agenda for Change T&C at Band 8D.
