Who you’ll be supporting & more about the role:
Who you will be Supporting - We are 4 adults, our ages range from 57 to 80 years all. We are all unique in different ways and each of us live with our own challenges that include autism, cerebral palsy, schizo-affective, asperges and hearing problems. Two of us are independently mobile and one of us is in a wheelchair and the other uses a wheeled rollator. Two of us have our own cars which is great as we love days out. Our Home -
We are located close to local bus stops which go to Heworth Metro, Team Valley, Gateshead, Metro Centre and Newcastle. We are walking distance to St Albans Church which is Church of England. We have the Nature Park behind us which is a great place to go for an afternoon walk, also if we walk through we can go the Fiddlers pub on Abion Street.
What important to us
We are all different and enjoy doing our own thing. Some of us like to go shopping, look around shops and have a beverage and snack, some like to do more an activity like bowling or seeing a movie.
What we all do enjoy together is a good party, we like the music, disco lights and even a bit of karaoke. Also we get to see friends from other services.
We all like our staff to be respectful and supportive. We do not like staff who are overpowering loud and insensitive.
Our Home
We live in a large, supported living accommodation which is all one level, apart from the managers office which is up a set of stairs. Our flats are on the ground floor in different zones. We have a large garden that goes right around the outer building, and it is lovely for walks around. We have a patch of garden that we like to work on in the summertime.
We live in 4 separate self-contained flats, each flat is personalised to our own individual likes and taste, we are giving the choice of our own furnishings and deco. The flats are on two levels, ground and 1st floor, which are accessed by the stairs, we do not have a lift. The flats are pushed back from the main road, which gives it more private surrounds. We have a back garden, where we have BBQ's in the summer and even get to see the squirrels who visit from the nature park. The nature park is located at the back of our home. Next door to us on the right is Sutherlands pub, we often have parties in there or go for lunch sometimes.
