Product Safety Engineer

Client: BAE Systems

Location: Barrow-in-Furness

Duration: 6 months

Hourly Rate: £55.31 PAYE or £74.68 Umbrella

Working Arrangements: Hybrid working


About the Role

BAE Systems is looking for a Principal Engineer – Product Safety to join our Submarines team in Barrow. This is a highly visible role where you’ll apply your engineering expertise to ensure the safety, compliance, and effectiveness of submarine systems and components. You’ll work independently or as part of a small team, providing technical leadership and guidance, and occasionally leading other engineers.


Key Responsibilities

* Undertake technical reviews and verify/sign engineering designs
* Provide guidance and direction to engineers, supporting their development
* Define qualification obligations for assurance hold points during build, test, and commissioning
* Ensure Safety Cases and supporting documentation are robust, compliant, and fit for purpose
* Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to incorporate requirements where appropriate
* Promote and share technical expertise, approaches, and standards across the business
