The Role
As a Junior Buyer, you’ll play a key role in supporting procurement activities across raw materials, packaging, and other essential goods. You’ll work closely with Senior Buyers and internal stakeholders to ensure we deliver quality products at the best value, while maintaining strong supplier relationships.
What You’ll Be Doing
Category Management
1. Manage your own portfolio of spend with support from Senior Buyers
2. Conduct market research to understand cost drivers and trends
3. Build supplier knowledge, profiles, and contingency plans
4. Support budget pricing and contribute to quarterly reviews
5. Identify and help deliver cost-saving opportunities
Supplier Sourcing & Market Research
6. Research and identify potential suppliers
7. Analyse market trends to support cost-effective purchasing
8. Maintain supplier databases and capability records
9. Assist in supplier evaluation across cost, quality, and delivery
Supplier Relationship Management
10. Build and maintain strong supplier relationships
11. Communicate on pricing, quality, and delivery matters
12. Support supplier performance tracking and issue resolution
13. Assist with stock analysis and demand forecasting
Cost Control & Negotiation
14. Support negotiations on pricing and terms
15. Help ensure procurement stays within budget
16. Track and report on cost-saving initiatives
What We’re Looking For
Experience
17. Previous experience in a procurement or buying role (FMCG, retail, or manufacturing preferred)
18. Understanding of procurement processes and supplier management
19. Experience with procurement systems is advantageous
Skills & Attributes
20. Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships
21. Good Excel and MS Office skills with strong attention to detail
22. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
23. Proactive, organised, and eager to learn
24. Basic negotiation skills with a commercial mindset
25. A collaborative team player
