Wolf ward is pleased to offer a vacancy for a Registered Nurse to join our team.
We are a 31 bedded acute surgical ward specialising in Colorectal, Hepatobiliary & Oesophageal‑gastric surgery. We are proud to have 10 level 1 care beds for our more acute surgical patients. We deliver bespoke training in the level 1 area through our surgical education team and it is an exciting time to join our fast‑paced, thriving ward. We are closely linked to Stonehouse surgical ward & Surgical Assessment Unit (SAU) so can offer experiences through these clinical areas.

Main duties of the job
Under the direction of the Nurse‑in‑Charge and working as part of a multidisciplinary team you will co‑ordinate, and deliver effective quality nursing care by assessing the needs, planning, implementing & evaluating the care for a group of surgical patients.

Job Responsibilities
* Provide and deliver a high standard of nursing care (e.g., washing, mouth care, and toileting).
* Prioritise own tasks and carry out clinical observations on patients, recognising, recording and reporting all changes in patients' condition to senior staff.
* Support maintenance of fluid balance and dietary charts, recognising, recording and reporting all adverse findings to senior staff.
* Undertake the escort of patients to other departments, under the direction of the registered nurse when deemed competent.
* Assist with feeding and drinking and report on concerns about dietary intake to senior staff.
* Maintain awareness of skin integrity over pressure points and report all adverse findings to senior staff.
* Educate patients and carers, refer patients to senior staff, and document and sign for all observations and care with counter‑signature from a registered practitioner.
* Maintain professional development by attending courses and training to optimise your role within the ward.
Person Specification
Essential
* Registered nurse training completed.
* NMC registered nurse.
* Good communication skills, written and verbal, with ability to demonstrate fluency, clarity and effectiveness at all levels.
* Ability to prioritise workload.
Desirable
* Completed preceptorship.
* Basic computer skills.
* Experience of directing and instructing others.
