An exciting new opportunity has arisen in our team for a Solicitor/Chartered Legal Executive within the Children and Families Public Law Department, undertaking Care and Child Protection work.
This role would suit someone with at least three years’ post-qualified experience supporting a busy department.

If you apply direct and successfully pass your probation period, you will receive a one-off bonus of £500 (gross pay).
* Manage a caseload of child protection maters
* Advocacy
* Produce accurate detailed work to ensure excellence in legal services
* Maintain files and ensure efficient case management of care matters
* Draft any documentation in accordance with efficient file management including correspondence, briefs, court documentation, full attendance notes and statements of evidence
* Time record in accordance with the Firm’s policy and prepare bills as necessary
* Attend to clients at court with counsel
* Mentor and support junior members of the department
* Undertake work necessary to build up maintain and manage a caseload
* Undertake any reasonable instructions made by the Directors or Heads of Departments within the limits of this job description
* Attend department meetings as required
* Be actively involved in marketing and business development activities
* At least three years’ experience working within a Care Department as a Solicitor/Chartered Legal Executive carrying a full caseload of care proceedings
* Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Word and Outlook and good keyboard skills
* Accredited member of the Law Society’s Children’s Panel is essential
* Have established a relationship with CAFCASS and other stakeholders
* Ability to work within quality and case management systems (e.g. Lexcel and Tikit)
* Dynamic in approach and uses initiative when dealing with clients or potential clients
* A positive approach to customer service
* A team player and flexible in approach
* Ability to deal with sensitive situations and difficult clients in a professional, confidential manner
* Sufficient knowledge of the legal process to understand the work being undertaken
* Knowledge of the work of Children and Families Public Law Department and the relevant law
* Experience of public funding procedures would be advantageous
* Driving licence and use of own vehicle preferable but ability to travel between offices, courts and stakeholder office essential
