Job Responsibilities:
1. Understand the disease process of COPD and other respiratory conditions and how it affects sufferers.
2. Assist qualified Physiotherapists in delivering pulmonary rehab services in various settings (online and face-to-face).
3. Run exercise classes for patients with breathing problems independently, with Physiotherapist support when needed.
4. Assess patients with breathing problems independently and determine their suitability and safety for exercise, with Physiotherapist support as required.
5. Assist in running Pulmonary Rehab classes in community settings such as leisure centres without direct supervision from a Physiotherapist.
6. Work independently with patients in leisure centre gyms and fitness studios with predictable case management.
7. Work within established guidelines.
8. Explain to patients and family members how Pulmonary Rehabilitation can help them manage their chronic illness.
9. Assess patient responses to interventions and adapt treatments as necessary.
10. Work independently in the community, seeking support from qualified staff when needed, and undertake programmes and tasks as discussed with qualified staff.
11. Carry out exercise programmes with patients without direct supervision.
12. Plan, organise, and prioritise workload independently.
13. Report patient progress to qualified staff and notify when physiotherapy reassessment is needed.
14. Contribute to problem-solving and collaborate with colleagues on solutions.
15. Decide on the timing for progression of treatment programmes and patient discharge in liaison with physiotherapists.
16. Communicate with physiotherapists and the multi-professional team regarding patient condition changes or other relevant information.
17. Maintain accurate and complete records in accordance with legislation, policies, and procedures.
18. Provide advice, support, and demonstrate activities to assistants and less experienced staff.
19. Be aware of patient needs during illness or disability and promote independence and functional restoration.

Qualifications:
* Degree/Foundation Degree/Diploma in Health & Sports Science or similar; or NVQ 3 with significant experience in Cardiac or Pulmonary Rehab.
* GCSE Maths & English grade C or above.
Desirable Criteria:
* Healthcare course or similar.
* Experience working with elderly or disabled adults.
* NHS experience.
* Experience with long-term condition management.
Experience & Knowledge:
* Previous experience or knowledge of health & rehabilitation.
* Demonstration of theoretical knowledge and practical application for individuals with disabilities.
* Hold a full, valid UK driving licence and have access to a car for business purposes (unless disabled as per the Equality Act 2010).
