Overview
Customer Service Assistant in Parkfoot handles customer transactions, ensures smooth retail operations and maintains safety and cleanliness
Main duties and responsibilities
1. Customer Service and Sales:
● Greet customers warmly and assist with inquiries about products, fuel prices
and promotions.
● Process grocery and fuel purchases efficiently at the checkout.
● Handle cash, card and mobile payments accurately.
● Manage lottery ticket sales, tobacco, alcohol (with age verification) and other
convenience items.
● Upsell promotions (eg meal deals, fuel discount and loyalty programmes)
1. Fuel Station Duties:
● Monitor fuel pumps, ensuring they are functioning correctly.
● Assist customers with fuel payments.
● Check fuel stock levels and report any shortages or leaks.
● Enforce safety rule on the forecourt.
1. Stock and Merchandising:
● Restock shelves, fridges and displays
● Check expiry dates on perishable items and rotate stock.
● Keep the store tidy, including the forecourt (no litter, spills or hazards)
● Assist with deliveries and inventory counts.4. Handling Complaints and Issues:
● Resolve customer complaints.
● Report fuel discrepancies or faulty equipment to management.
● Follow procedures for refunds, damaged goods or fuel mishaps.
1. Safety and Compliance:
● Follow age-restriction policies.
● Adhere to health and safety regulations (food, hygiene and fuel handling).
● Conduct routine checks (wet floor signs and pump safety).
● Report suspicious activity or shoplifting to supervisors.
1. Shift Duties:
● Open and close the store securely (if required ready for nightshift).
● Work with employees to ensure a smooth shift and handover.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* Customer focus – friendly, patient and efficient.
* Numeracy and cash handling – Accurate with money and card payments.
* Safety awareness – vigilant about fuel and shop hazards
* Multitasking – balancing fuel sales, checkouts and stock duties
* Basic computer skills – Comfortable using POS systems, fuel console and lottery
This role will include x2 nights per week including weekends. There will be an expectancy to work all or some bank holidays as we trade 365 days a year
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From £13.10 per hour
