Overview
An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Procurement Manager to join the team at Galliford Try within our Environment Business. The role sits within the North East and Southern region and offers hybrid working. The Procurement team provides expert advice to stakeholders throughout the procurement lifecycle to ensure fit-for-purpose, sustainable, innovative sourcing solutions. The role will lead an expanding multi-discipline procurement team and influence procurement activities within the programme of works.
Responsibilities
* Provide end-to-end procurement support on a range of complex activities, developing and delivering procurement sourcing strategies and applying best practice and value procurement.
* Identify and action procurement opportunities, including establishment of GT frameworks, opportunity grouping and promoting internal trading opportunities.
* Lead, coordinate and influence internal stakeholders to identify needs and embed them into procurement and supply chain activities.
* Act as a business partner to deliver guidance so procurement is engaged early in planning and goods/services are purchased using best practice to maximise value from the supply chain.
* Manage procurement tender processes, schedules, controls and processes to deliver sustainable and value-adding tender outcomes.
* Ensure knowledge of GT BMS and minimum Standards, and compliance with GT's code of conduct.
* Build and maintain strong relationships, drive collaboration and conflict management, and support the organisation of events such as meet-the-buyers sessions to generate ideas and communicate strategy.
* Build a high-performing team and foster collaborative environments; manage reporting of procurement performance at framework and divisional levels with the Performance and Improvement team.
* Identify and escalate procurement and commercial risks; understand the legal/commercial contents of GT standard terms and how to produce fit-for-purpose orders.
* Prepare and collate tender and contract documents for NEC form contracts and purchase orders.
Qualifications & Experience
* Experience leading a team of procurement professionals; working knowledge of NEC and/or IChemE forms of contract; knowledge of commodity/purchase order terms.
* Negotiation skills; experience with digital procurement, costing and commercial systems (Orbit preferred).
* Professional CIPS qualification or willingness to undertake structured training to obtain it.
* Understanding of commercial models, budgets, and value markets; familiarity with NEC forms of contract and supplier processes; ability to engage with supply chains proactively.
* Stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills; ability to lead and influence internal stakeholders and maintain integrity and trust.
* Flexible, organised, and customer-focused with strong ethical standards and a proactive, collaborative mindset.
