Job Description:
Manpower is currently seeking 2 interim Laboratory Technicians to work with our global FMCG client Unilever, renowned for brands such as Dove, Sure, Persil, and Simple. Join their fast-paced FMCG environment.
This position is based at Unilever’s scientific Research & Development facility in Port Sunlight Village, Wirral. It is a full-time temporary role lasting 6 months, requiring 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Compensation ranges between £24,700 - £27,445 per annum, pro rata, depending on experience.
The Laboratory Technician (Fragrance Lab Compounder) will provide technical and laboratory support to accurately formulate according to recipes. This role involves repetitive tasks requiring high accuracy and attention to detail.
You will work both proactively and independently within a multi-functional, multicultural environment, following prescribed procedures and health and safety guidelines.
The core responsibility is to formulate accurately to specified recipes, demanding precision and meticulousness.
Key Responsibilities:
* Weigh materials precisely according to recipes and order of addition
* Record all laboratory work accurately, including labeling
* Handle and store raw materials safely
* Coordinate with the laboratory team and raw material assistant manager on stock levels and requirements
* Maintain cleanliness and calibration of equipment
* Follow safety and lab management procedures (Risk Assessment, Health & Safety, Laboratory Management, Standard Procedures)
* Update project teams on challenges and schedule changes
Key Skills:
* Practical laboratory experience in sample preparation preferred, with a keen eye for safety and procedures
* Interest in fragrances; background in perfumery, chemistry, or formulation useful
* Strong teamwork skills and ability to work independently
* Awareness of safety protocols, including SOPs, risk assessments, and CoSHH
* Highly motivated, numerate, detail-oriented, with an interest in products and fragrances
* Effective communication skills regarding deadlines and challenges
* Digital literacy
* Ability to remain calm under changing priorities
