Main duties of the job
1. Support the Clinical Safety Officer in ensuring compliance with national clinical safety standards (DCB0129 and DCB0160) across all digital systems.
2. Lead and coordinate clinical risk management activities, including safety assessments, hazard workshops, and documentation reviews.
3. Identify, escalate, and help mitigate patient safety risks associated with digital solutions.
4. Promote a safety-focused culture and provide expert advice on clinical safety to stakeholders across the Trust.
5. Collaborate with the CCIO, CNIO, and wider teams to embed safety into digital transformation programmes.
6. Monitor and audit clinical safety compliance, support procurement processes, and contribute to system testing and deployment decisions.
7. Represent the Trust in local and national digital safety forums.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
As Associate Digital Clinical Safety Officer (Associate CSO), you will play a key role in embedding clinical safety across digital programmes at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Working closely with the Digital Clinical Safety Officer, you’ll help ensure compliance with national clinical safety standards, support risk management activities, and provide expert advice to clinical and digital teams.
The Associate CSO will also support the delivery of the OneEPR programme - an ambitious collaboration between four NHS Trusts to implement a single, integrated electronic patient record (EPR) system. This is a pivotal role in shaping how digital solutions are safely designed, deployed, and used to improve patient care across the Trust and the wider network.
Previous experience in clinical safety, risk management or digital health is advantageous but not essential, as full training will be provided to the successful candidate.
Main Responsibilities
8. Support the CSO in managing clinical safety across the lifecycle of digital systems.

14. Registered clinical professional (e.g. NMC, HCPC)
15. Evidence of continued professional development

20. Significant senior experience in acute clinical practice
21. Experience of clinical governance, leadership or management
22. Awareness of patient safety legislation and clinical risk management standards (DCB0129 / DCB0160)
23. Familiarity with digital clinical systems and electronic patient records
24. Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
25. Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
