Assembly Operative – Precision & Aerospace Manufacturing Location: Denham Salary: £30,000 – £32,000 comprehensive benefits Hours: 37 per week (Mon–Thurs: 08:00–17:00 | Fri: 08:00–12:00) Contract: Permanent, Full-Time About the Role A leading precision engineering and aerospace manufacturer in Denham is looking for an Assembly Operative to join its production and fitting department. This is a hands-on role assembling and inspecting complex mechanical sub-assemblies and aerospace components that form part of safety-critical equipment. You’ll work to detailed engineering drawings and build instructions, ensuring all assemblies meet exacting standards of quality, performance, and reliability. Key Responsibilities Assemble, fit, and inspect a wide range of mechanical components and sub-assemblies such as retraction units, deployment units, and structural assemblies. Work accurately from engineering drawings, build plans, and technical documentation. Use hand tools, jigs, fixtures, and pneumatic or manual riveting equipment (solid and blind rivets). Carry out bonding and sealing work using adhesives such as Araldite and Loctite. Install inserts (e.g. Helicoils), locking pins, and threaded components to specification. Perform dimensional checks and record inspection results using gauges and measuring instruments. Conduct self-inspection and final inspection in line with internal and aerospace quality standards. Support continuous improvement activities, including Lean and 5S initiatives. Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work environment. What We’re Looking For Previous experience in an engineering, manufacturing, or assembly environment (aerospace or precision engineering experience desirable). Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and work to fine tolerances. Confident using hand tools, measuring instruments, gauges, jigs, and fixtures. Familiar with bonding, riveting, or mechanical fitting techniques. Understanding of health & safety and quality standards. Excellent manual dexterity, attention to detail, and a proactive team mindset. Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent experience preferred.
