Role: Quality Engineer- Production
Location: Birmingham Airport
Role Type: 15 months - initially
Salary: Up to £33 an hour, depending on experience
Role Overview:
Our globallyrenowned aerospace client is seekingan experienced and highly skilledProduction Engineer to support the E-7 Wedgetail flight test phase. This position sits within the Fixed Wing Quality team and reports to the Fixed Wing Quality Manager. The role focuses on providing quality assurance, inspection oversight, and compliance support throughout the flight test process, ensuring adherence to company, contractual, and regulatory standards.
The successful candidate will act as a subject matter expert (SME) for qualityassurance, supporting on- site flight test activities and maintaining close alignment with production operations at Birmingham Airport and test programmes at RAF Lossiemouth and MOD Boscombe Down.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct quality inspections, internal audits, and line stock checks in line with the client’squality procedures and audit plans.
* Support quality assurance processes during the flight test phase, ensuringcompliance with design, customer, and regulatory requirements.
* Review and contribute to Non-Conformance Reports(NCRs), Material Review Board (MRB) activities, and local safety investigations.
* Maintain and validatework instructions, toolingrequirements, certifications, and process standards.
* Identify non-conformances, recommend corrective actions, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
* Participate in qualityreviews for proposals, contracts, and customerrequirements to ensure early quality involvement.
* Analyse process data, customer feedback, and audit findingsto formulate preventive and corrective action plans.
* Represent Quality at design reviewsand facilitate a strong Just Culture withinthe client’s Maintenance and Production organisation.
Required Qualifications & Experience
* Eligible for UK Security Clearance (SC).
* Minimum of 3 years’ experience in aviation qualityassurance, root cause analysis, and corrective action management.
* Proven experience with Quality Management Systems (QMS) and production environments.
* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills,with high attentionto detail.
* Working knowledge of MAA, CAA, and EASA regulations (Part145, Part M, Part 21).
* Experience in flighttesting, operational maintenance, or production environments.
* Familiarity with OEM aerospace processes and procedures and experience with data analytics tools.
* A customer-focused, dependable, and adaptable professional with strong teamworkand decision-making abilities.
