3 Month Contract With A Local Authority Job Purpose We are seeking a highly experienced and proactive Executive Support Manager to lead a first-class executive office and provide high-impact support to the Executive Director of Environment & Communities and their Departmental Management Team (DMT). This strategic role blends executive assistance, people leadership, governance coordination, and project delivery to enable the Directorate to perform at its best. Key Responsibilities Act as Executive Assistant to the Executive Director, managing a smooth-running and responsive executive office. Draft and quality-assure high-level correspondence, briefings, reports, and presentations for senior officers, Members, and stakeholders. Manage diary commitments, ensure timely responses to urgent matters, and maintain oversight of key Directorate priorities. Line manage a network of Personal Assistants (PAs) supporting three Directors and three Heads of Service. Provide effective leadership, clear objectives, development planning, performance monitoring, and wellbeing support for 2–4 direct reports. Foster a collaborative, high-performing PA community with shared standards and best practice. Coordinate high-level meetings including Cabinet Member briefings, DMT meetings, budget-holder reviews, and cross-departmental governance forums. Manage agendas, prepare and distribute papers, record decisions and actions, and monitor delivery. Oversee the production and submission of Cabinet Member Reports, Operational Reports, and Scrutiny Papers, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met. Present updates to senior internal forums as needed. Requirements Significant experience supporting senior executives in a fast-paced, complex organisation. Proven ability to lead and manage people, including performance, development, and wellbeing. Strong track record in project delivery, from initial scoping through to evaluation. Excellent verbal and written communication, with experience producing briefings, minutes, and reports for senior audiences. Politically astute, with the ability to influence and engage across all levels of an organisation. High standards of integrity and discretion, with a clear understanding of confidentiality and sensitive data handling. Digital proficiency, including advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and confidence in using digital tools and data platforms. Relevant qualifications in Business Administration, Executive Support, or equivalent professional experience.
