My client is a well-established construction company based in Carlisle, and they are looking for a confident and detail-focused Accounts Assistant to support their busy finance team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a background in finance who's looking to develop their skills within a thriving and supportive environment.
What you'll be doing:
Accurately process supplier invoices, ensuring timely data entry and coding
Match invoices to purchase orders and investigate discrepancies where needed
Collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers to resolve payment and invoice queries promptly
Process subcontractor applications in line with internal approval workflows
Review and submit on-site labour timesheets for sign-off
Prepare and process weekly payments to labour-only subcontractors
Assist with weekly and/or monthly payroll processing
Set up and maintain accurate records of suppliers and subcontractors in our Construction Manager system
Monitor and reconcile staff expenses and company credit card usage
Manage the internal approval process for all supplier invoices
Keep the Accounts Manual up to date with current procedures
Reconcile supplier statements and follow up on outstanding balances
Provide general administrative support including document filing and archivingWhat we're looking for:
Experience in a similar accounts role, ideally within the construction sector
Familiarity with CIS (Construction Industry Scheme) is preferred, but not essential
A high level of accuracy and attention to detail
Excellent communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships
Comfortable using accounting and construction-related systems (experience with Construction Manager is an advantage)
