Role Overview
Test Engineer will carry out software and system testing of security products running under Rapiscan’s proprietary ScanOS platform and cyber security patch testing, including X-ray scanners and Matrix IT systems and networks, working under the direction of the System Test Manager.
Responsibilities
1. Install software (ISO) on X-ray scanners, PCs and servers.
2. Carry out system verification and validation testing.
3. Create test procedures and test cases.
4. Identify, report and track software defects and issues.
5. Perform functional, performance, and regression testing of software products.
6. Test X-ray scanner and screener software GUIs and provide feedback/improvement suggestions to development teams.
7. Ensure tests performed and results provided within the given time frame.
8. Generate test reports and feedback for design engineers and software developers.
9. Contribute towards improving current procedures to optimise testing processes.
10. Assist the test manager in planning the test program for RTT products.
11. Install Cyber Security patches on development/test X-ray Scanner servers and Matrix servers and workstation IT equipment.
12. Verify software build & patch configuration.
13. Carry out Cyber Security patch validation testing.
14. Basic knowledge of Linux.
15. Basic networking (configuring IP addresses, configuring servers and PC workstations).
Qualifications
16. Knowledge and experience of system/hardware/software verification/validation testing.
17. Experience of software testing; knowledge of Windows and Linux based operating systems.
18. Understand the system engineering process from requirements capture through to verification and validation.
19. Knowledge and experience of Cyber Security processes and procedures.
20. Experience of Helix ALM, Confluence, Jira, or similar requirements management/test tracking tool.
21. Knowledge of Agile Sprints methodologies desirable.
22. Ability to carry out accurate, detailed, and rigorous work.
23. Methodical approach to diagnosing faults/problems.
24. Knowledge & experience of test automation desirable but not essential.
Knowledge & Training required:
25. The individual should be degree/HND qualified in an Engineering discipline although relevant experience may be considered.
26. Knowledge and experience of Cyber Security processes and procedures.
27. Knowledge and experience of Cyber Security patch testing.
28. Knowledge of security systems and baggage screening desirable but not essential.
