About the Role We are looking for an Electrical Building Services Design Engineer to join our growing team in Port Talbot. This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in the design and delivery of electrical building services across a diverse portfolio of projects. You will play a key role in producing high-quality electrical designs, working closely with mechanical engineers, BIM technicians, and project teams to deliver coordinated, compliant, and efficient solutions. From early concept design through to detailed design and construction support, you will contribute to every stage of the project lifecycle. At Auxilium, electrical design is closely integrated with our BIM and digital engineering approach. You’ll be supported by a collaborative team and modern tools, allowing you to focus on producing technically sound, well-coordinated designs that meet both client needs and regulatory requirements. In this role, you can expect to: Design electrical building services systems, including power distribution, lighting, emergency lighting, small power, fire alarm systems, and earthing and bonding. Produce calculations, reports, and technical specifications in accordance with relevant standards and regulations (including BS 7671 and applicable British Standards). Develop and review electrical layouts, schematics, and design information using Revit and AutoCAD, working closely with BIM colleagues to ensure accurate model coordination. Coordinate designs with mechanical, public health, architectural, and structural disciplines, identifying and resolving clashes or design conflicts early. Support projects through all RIBA stages, from concept and feasibility through to detailed design, construction, and handover. Attend and contribute to design team meetings, technical workshops, and coordination reviews. Respond to technical queries during construction and assist with reviewing contractor submissions, drawings, and commissioning information. Contribute to continuous improvement by sharing knowledge, improving design processes, and supporting best practice across the team. Your work will directly influence the safety, efficiency, and performance of the buildings we design – helping to deliver projects that are functional, sustainable, and built to last. About You You are a motivated and technically capable electrical engineer who enjoys working as part of a collaborative team. You take pride in producing clear, compliant designs and enjoy solving technical challenges. You are comfortable managing your own workload while contributing positively to wider project goals. You’ll bring: Experience in electrical building services design within a consultancy or contractor design environment. A solid understanding of electrical systems for buildings, including lighting, power, life safety systems, and associated controls. Knowledge of relevant regulations and standards, including BS 7671, Building Regulations, and applicable British Standards. Experience producing electrical designs and documentation using AutoCAD and/or Revit. The ability to coordinate effectively with other disciplines and communicate technical information clearly. A proactive approach, with good problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Desirable skills: Proven expertise with Autodesk Revit (ideally Revit MEP) on real-world building projects, with the ability to build and organise models for building services (MEP) systems and navigate complex BIM projects confidently. Progress toward or membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. IET, CIBSE). Experience working within a BIM-enabled environment and familiarity with ISO 19650 principles. Awareness of energy efficiency, low-carbon design, and sustainable building technologies. Experience supporting projects during construction and commissioning phases.
