The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is that little extra." - Jimmy Johnson Engineer – Classic & Custom Vehicle Builds Full Time | Permanent We’re supporting a specialist workshop known for producing high-end custom and fully rebuilt vehicles, and they’re looking to add a talented Build Engineer / Automotive Fabricator / Custom Vehicle Builder to the team. The right person will be hands-on, methodical, and take real pride in precision engineering and craftsmanship. Key Responsibilities: * Engine, gearbox, and drivetrain installation on bespoke builds * Complete chassis-up construction, including suspension, steering, braking, and fuel systems * MIG welding and structural fabrication (TIG experience highly valued) * Installing custom electrical systems, lighting, audio, and power accessories * Building, routing, and testing wiring looms with a problem-solving approach to electrical integration * Body panel alignment, coachbuilding-style fit-up, and full interior installation * Working from detailed technical drawings, build specs, and custom fabrication plans What You’ll Need: * Proven experience in vehicle building, engineering, or custom fabrication * Confident in MIG welding, metalwork, and custom chassis/frame setups * Strong grasp of automotive electrical systems, especially in retrofitted or upgraded builds * Ability to read and interpret technical plans, wiring diagrams, and build documentation * High attention to detail with pride in craftsmanship, alignment, and finish quality * A clean, focused, and self-led approach to one-off vehicle builds * Comfortable working in a precision-driven, small-team workshop environment What Sets You Apart: * You think like an engineer: logical, practical, and solutions-focused * You care about how things fit, feel, and function — not just how fast they go together * You’re resourceful under pressure and bring a calm, can-do mindset * You take ownership of your builds from bare chassis to final fit * You’ve got excellent spatial awareness and a mechanical feel for balance, structure, and symmetry If you live for engineered builds, vehicle craftsmanship, and creating something unique from the ground up — this is your kind of role.
