Now, we’re looking for a Grounds Maintenance Caretaker to join Progress Living, helping us keep our accommodation and outdoor spaces safe, compliant and welcoming across three hospital sites in Lincolnshire. About Progress Living Progress Living works in partnership with United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, managing accommodation across three hospital sites in Lincoln, Boston and Grantham. Our contract includes extensive refurbishment and new build accommodation, alongside long-term management-meaning your work directly supports healthcare staff and occupants who rely on high-quality, well-maintained living spaces. About the Role As our Grounds Maintenance Caretaker, you’ll deliver an effective and efficient grounds and building maintenance service across Progress Living properties and areas. You’ll carry out regular inspections, respond to issues proactively and work closely with contractors and colleagues to ensure our sites remain safe, well-presented and fully compliant. Key Responsibilities Grounds & External Areas Maintain all garden and outdoor areas, including grass cutting, weeding, planting, pruning, watering and litter picking. Ensure shrub beds and plants are healthy, recommending re-planting to the Operational Manager where required. Safely use and maintain garden machinery and tools, including ladders/steps, in line with Health & Safety requirements. Building Maintenance & Repairs Take a proactive approach to repairs and upkeep across the sites. Carry out maintenance and repairs including basic joinery, plumbing and electrical tasks (where competent/authorised). Complete responsive and cyclical internal painting and decorating. Work collaboratively to ensure repairs are completed promptly either in-house or via contractors. Compliance, Inspections & Record-Keeping Conduct cyclical property inspections and health and safety checks, reporting and responding to issues in line with policy. Carry out weekly testing of the fire alarm and emergency lighting systems, maintaining accurate records and escalating faults to ensure compliance. Monitor contractor performance and service delivery, supporting adherence to Service Level Agreements. Customer Service & Site Support Manage enquiries from occupants in line with procedures. Support accommodation staff with occupant inductions, including building access, heating controls, key areas on site, fire evacuation procedures and non-smoking requirements. Carry out general clerical/administrative duties related to the role. What We’re Looking For We’re seeking someone who’s practical, proactive and takes pride in maintaining safe, welcoming environments-someone who can work confidently on their own initiative while also being a strong team player. Essential Full UK driving licence Previous experience in a property maintenance, caretaking, facilities, estates or grounds maintenance role. Good understanding of health & safety and safe working practices. Strong customer service mindset with the ability to communicate professionally with occupants, colleagues and contractors. Willingness to undertake further training as required. Desirable Experience working in accommodation, healthcare, NHS or similarly compliance-led environments. Practical multi-trade skills (e.g., basic joinery/plumbing/electrics) and/or decorating experience. Experience completing inspections, compliance checks and maintaining accurate records.
