Job Opportunity: Fluid Mechanics Researcher in Biopharmaceuticals
We are seeking a researcher with experience in developing and quantifying small-scale fluid-based devices to support the development of next-generation protein-based medicines. This multidisciplinary project, spanning engineering and biology, is based at one of the UK's leading research-intensive universities.
This position is part of the EPSRC-funded project titled EMBeDs: Ensuring Manufacturability of next-generation Biopharmaceuticals by Design. The project involves collaboration with industrial partners AstraZeneca and UCB, focusing on creating robust, effective protein candidates capable of withstanding manufacturing processes.
Our team has a proven track record in developing novel devices to assess protein stability under hydrodynamic forces and in devising unique measurement techniques for candidate molecules. The work will focus on developing new methods to stress proteins in a controlled manner.
Key responsibilities include applying your expertise in fluid mechanics and fluid-flow equipment design to develop innovative approaches for stressing and evaluating protein responses. Experience with micro- and milli-fluidic systems is essential, as samples are limited. You will collaborate with scientists to select physics-based measurement techniques and analyze protein behavior, presenting findings to industrial partners and preparing publications.
We offer flexible working arrangements and a supportive environment for your research career advancement.
