Tomlinson Environmental Services (TES) is looking to add a Scale Attendant to weigh vehicles, issue scale tickets and receive payment from customers at the City owned Landfill in Peterborough, Ontario. The role works closely with the rest of the TES Team and the Municipality to ensure accuracy of information and to resolve customer disputes/queries.
The successful applicant will also be required to assist with the Ramp Operations (outside) by advising the public where to deposit the materials that are brought to the site.
The current schedule for the position is Tuesday to Saturday (8am to 5pm).
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Weigh vehicles, issue tickets and collect payment.
2. Ensure scale ticket information is correct.
3. Communicate with the site team throughout the day to ensure accurate reporting.
4. Deal with customers at the site and on the phone in a courteous manner.
5. Print daily reports to verify cash, debit, and credit card transactions.
6. Relay any customer concerns or complaints.
7. Other duties as assigned.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILTIES
8. Monitoring of vehicles and persons entering the premises.
9. Basic maintenance of scale and scale house as required including: Cleaning and maintaining a professional environment. Snow removal.
10. Filling in as a ramp attendant as required.
WORKING CONDITIONS
11. Dealing with customers and managing complaints.
12. Office-like environment when in the scale,
13. Outdoor environment when on the ramp.
14. Ability to work alone and as part of the team.
15. The schedule is currently 5 days per week Tuesday to Saturday with the potential for extra days covering either the ramp or the scale.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
16. Computer knowledge and organizational skills as well as the ability to multi-task, are required.
17. Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with customers, and all co-workers required.
18. Valid driver’s licence and vehicle required.
