The Role
The Marine Operations Manager is a permanent and full-time position. The role will provide oversight and advice relating to the safe and efficient operations of the UK Vessel Fleet, ensuring compliance with maritime regulations, and the continuous improvement of operational performance in line with Company procedures and objectives. Our Marine Operations Manager will guide on industry best practice and be a key focal point for internal and external stakeholders including clients.
Base Location
This role will work from our Aberdeen city centre office, which has excellent transport links.
Working Pattern
Mon – Fri office based with flexibility for 1 day remote
Main Responsibilities
* Support the promotion of a strong safety culture, encouraging proactive safety reporting and continuous learning to embed safety as Tidewaters highest priority.
* Monitor and ensure vessel are operating in full compliance with all relevant laws and regulatory and client requirements.
* Monitor and follow up vessel performance KPI’s, addressing any required actions to maintain and improve standards and service delivery. Identify and rectify any non-conformances to mitigate downtime.
* Support the QHSE Department in delivery of internal vessel audit programme.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with Flag and Port Authorities.
* Maintain a regular and positive communication channel with clients to include organising and delivery of Client QPR meetings.
* Review Fleet requirements pertinent to offshore marine operations and communicate relevant actions to stakeholders.
* Conduct meetings with vessel Masters, thus promoting and developing a high standard of navigational practice, dynamic positioning compliance as per IMCA guidelines and Marine Operations.
* Work closely with Procurement team to ensure adequate resources and shore based support is available to vessels at all times.
* Oversee the day-to-day delivery of effective vessel support by Operations team, including requesting maintenance days and fuel orders.
* Act as Company Security Officer ensuring full compliance with ISPS requirements across the fleet.
* Administration and oversight of NAVTOR and OneOcean systems
* Oversight of OVID/CMID management ensuring timely communication of pertinent information to relevant stakeholders as well as Marine Assurance for the UK Fleet.
* Implement and develop Marine policy and procedures as required
Skills, knowledge and qualifications
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills and an ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
* Hold a Class 1 Officer of the Watch Certificate of Competency or a min 5 years’ experience on offshore vessels as Senior Deck Officer (Required)
* Experience in Anchor Handling and Towing Operations (Required)
* Dynamic Positioning Officer (Required)
* A proven ability to facilitate change and drive improvements
* Strong planning and organisational skills
* Experience in client interface would be advantageous
