About the Role
Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting Social Workers to join its outstanding-rated mental health services. You will provide high-quality social care to adults experiencing mental ill-health, focusing on recovery, choice, control, and independence. This role involves assessment, care planning, safeguarding, and acting as a champion of social care in your locality. You will hold a caseload of adults with diverse mental health and social care needs, delivering recovery‑focused support and safeguarding practice. The role requires strong partnership working with service users, carers, and multidisciplinary teams, with opportunities to train as an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) if not already qualified.
Key Responsibilities
* Champion social care and safeguarding practice
* Undertake comprehensive assessments and reviews under the Care Act 2014
* Provide direct support and advice to service users and carers
* Commission appropriate health and social care services, including direct payments
* Ensure services promote choice, independence, and community living
* Undertake regular risk assessments to protect vulnerable people
* Contribute to AMHP rota if qualified, or undertake AMHP training
Candidate Requirements
* Professional Social Work qualification (degree level)
* Registration with Social Work England
* Training in outcomes‑focused assessments and personalisation
* Post‑qualification experience in social work
* Knowledge of legislation, theory, and policy relevant to mental health care
* Experience in safeguarding, care planning, and multi‑disciplinary working
* Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) or Best Interests Assessor training
* Experience working as an AMHP or Best Interests Assessor
Compensation and Benefits
* Salary/Pay: Band 6 (£41,957–£50,387 per annum, pro rata, incl. 5% HCAS)
