We are thrilled to offer an exciting opportunity for a Technical Production Engineer (LED Screens) to join our dynamic team. In this role, you'll be responsible for the
safe operation, maintenance, and technical support
of our cutting-edge LED display systems and AV infrastructure across the district. You'll play a key part in delivering
live events and immersive activations
, ensuring technical excellence, operational efficiency, and a strong commitment to health & safety. This is a collaborative role, working closely with our
Events team, Media Solutions Engineers, Event Managers, Infrastructure & Networking teams, Duty Managers, subcontractors, and vendors
to ensure seamless execution of all technical and operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical & Operational Delivery
* Operate, monitor, and maintain LED screen systems across the district.
* Provide technical support during live events, including pre-event testing, setup, troubleshooting, and acting as duty front-of-house engineer when required.
* Review and oversee technical production requirements for client activations, ensuring all documentation (RAMS, method statements, floor plans, insurance) is received, reviewed, and compliant.
* Undertake inspections, repairs, and planned preventative maintenance (PPM) of LED systems, PA systems, lighting, automation, and other AV infrastructure.
* Create, maintain, and update technical documentation including SOPs, drawings, risk assessments, and incident reports.
Event & Client Support
* Collaborate with event managers, operations teams, and clients to scope, plan, and deliver live events and activations.
* Review and approve production and structural plans with the Technical Production Manager and retained H&S consultants.
* Document and share technical procedures and solutions from events to support knowledge transfer within the team.
* Manage timelines and priorities during busy event schedules, including overnight get-ins and get-outs.
Health, Safety & Compliance
* Ensure health & safety standards are always followed, instilling a "safety-first" culture across operations.
* Confidently work at heights, following correct procedures; MEWP/IPAF license desirable.
* Ensure compliance with legal, statutory, and company safety frameworks.
* Conduct and support risk assessments as required.
Maintenance & Process Improvement
* Support the development and implementation of preventive maintenance and calibration programs for AV equipment.
* Liaise with subcontractors, third-party vendors, and internal facilities teams for repairs and technical support.
* Maintain accurate inventories of spare parts and equipment.
* Identify and recommend workflow, process, and system improvements to optimise operations.

Key Skills:
* Strong technical knowledge of LED screen systems (setup, calibration, fault-finding).
* Experience with AV systems including LED, projection, PA, lighting, automation, and networking protocols (Dante, DMX).
* Strong problem-solving ability, particularly in high-pressure live event environments.
* Excellent communication and coordination skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
* Detail-oriented with strong documentation and reporting skills.
* Proactive, reliable, and able to work independently or collaboratively within a team.
* Flexible and adaptable to day, night, and weekend shifts.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
Essential:
* Experience operating and maintaining LED screen systems (AOTO or similar desirable).
* Previous experience in live event technical production or similar client-facing AV role.
* Health & safety awareness (formal certification desirable, training provided if not held).
* Comfortable working at heights.
Desirable:
* Valid MEWP/IPAF License (categories 3A + 3B).
* Experience with automation systems (e.g., TAIT Navigator) and advanced audio systems (e.g., L-Acoustics).
* Advanced technical repair skills, including soldering and LED tile/module repairs.
* Experience using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD) for reviewing technical drawings.
* Knowledge of preventive maintenance frameworks and asset management tools.
