About the Site
Our client operates a modern bulk liquid terminal in Avonmouth, commissioned within the last 18 months and supporting critical UK infrastructure. The site is highly automated, safety-critical, and operates within a tightly regulated industrial environment.
The Opportunity
This is a senior, hands-on maintenance role for an electrically biased engineer who enjoys working autonomously and taking full responsibility for site maintenance activity.
There is no direct line management or people supervision in this role. Instead, it is ideally suited to an experienced and organised engineer who wants greater technical responsibility, ownership, and influence, without stepping into a traditional people-management position.
The Role
You will act as the site’s technical maintenance authority, responsible for the safe, compliant, and effective operation of all electrical and mechanical assets.
Key responsibilities include:
• Planned and reactive maintenance across electrical and mechanical systems (60/40 electrical bias)
• Ownership and management of the PPM system, ensuring statutory and preventative tasks are completed
• Working on HV electrical systems, including isolations and safe systems of work
• Fault-finding and maintaining PLC / SCADA-controlled plant
• Maintenance of mechanical equipment including pumps, motors, burners, heating and process equipment
• Creation and review of risk assessments, method statements and permits
• Supervision of engineering activity and specialist contractors (technical oversight only)
• Ensuring all maintenance work meets health, safety and compliance standards
About You
• Electrically biased Maintenance Engineer with strong mechanical capability
• Comfortable working independently and without day-to-day supervision
• Experience within heavy or regulated industrial environments such as Power Generation, Petrochemical / COMAH, Waste-to-Energy, bulk liquids or process industries
• Organised, methodical and confident taking ownership of maintenance systems
• Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation and compliance
• Looking for increased responsibility and technical authority without managing a team
• Full UK Driving Licence
