SEMH Teaching Assistant
About the Role
We are delighted to be supporting a small, nurturing independent school in Bentley, Hampshire, in their search for a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant. The school provides specialist education for children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, offering a supportive, trauma-informed environment where every pupil is encouraged to thrive both academically and personally.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping students overcome barriers to learning, promoting positive behaviour, and fostering confidence and independence. You’ll be part of a passionate, close-knit team that truly values the difference you make every day.

Key Responsibilities
* Support individual students and small groups to engage positively in lessons and activities
* Build trusting relationships with pupils to promote emotional wellbeing and resilience
* Work closely with teachers to deliver tailored learning and behaviour strategies
* Contribute to the creation of a calm, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment
* Help pupils develop social skills and self-regulation techniques

About You
We’re looking for an enthusiastic and patient individual who genuinely wants to make a difference in the lives of young people with additional needs.
Essential:
* Empathetic, calm, and consistent approach
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills
* Willingness to undertake relevant training and safeguarding checks
Desirable:
* Previous experience supporting children with SEMH or SEND needs
* Background in education, youth work, or care
* A full UK driving licence

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
