Hill McGlynn is proud to be working in partnership with a well-established, forward-thinking main contractor delivering a wide range of new build construction projects across Kent and the South East.
We are currently seeking an experienced and commercially driven Quantity Surveyor to join their Canterbury based team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a respected contractor with a strong order book and a diverse portfolio spanning education, healthcare, commercial, and residential sectors.
🔧 The Role
You will take commercial responsibility for the full project lifecycle – from procurement through to final account – supporting the successful delivery of new build schemes valued between £5m and £25m.
🛠️ Key Responsibilities
* Procurement and management of subcontractor packages
* Preparation of cost plans, budgets, and valuations
* Commercial reporting and forecasting
* Managing variations, change control, and final accounts
* Working closely with project managers and site teams to ensure commercial targets are met
* Maintaining compliance with contractual terms and procedures
👤 Ideal Candidate
* 3–7 years' experience in a Quantity Surveying role
* Proven background with a regional or Tier 1 main contractor
* Strong knowledge of JCT contracts and new build methodologies
* Excellent communication, negotiation and reporting skills
* Degree qualified or equivalent in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management
* Full UK driving licence
