Quality Lab Technician
Location: Aycliffe
Contract: Temporary - initially 3 months (potential to extend depending on demand)

Pay & Hours
Pay Rate: £17.75 per hour -(£14.38 basic + £3.37 shift allowance)
Hours: 39 hours per week
Shift Pattern:3‑shift rotation
2pm-10pm (required for this role)
10pm-6am
6am-2pm
Site Based: 5 days per week
Overtime: Weekend overtime opportunities available
Role Overview
We are seeking a Quality Lab Technician to support increased demand at the Aycliffe site. Reporting to the Lab Leader, this role focuses on quality testing and resale approval of products manufactured on site and off site. You will work with specialist laboratory and particulate test equipment, supporting filtration and carbon‑based product testing.
Full training will be provided on site‑specific test methods and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Operate quality testing equipment and systems in line with site procedures
Conduct quality testing on site and off‑site manufactured products
Control shipping release and ensure testing deadlines are met
Communicate non‑conformances promptly to relevant manufacturing areas
Adhere to all site EHS policies and procedures at all times
Accurately record, analyse, and report test data
Work independently when required while supporting the wider Quality team
Skills & Experience Required
Previous Quality or Laboratory experience (strong advantage)
Familiarity with laboratory or test equipment
Technical understanding and ability to learn client‑specific test methods
Strong attention to detail with good data analysis skills
Competent IT skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Ability to produce clear, accurate reports
Confident communicator at all levels of the organisation
Able to work alone using initiative and as part of a team
Flexible and committed to working a rotating shift pattern
Desirable Knowledge & Experience
Experience with SPC, SAP, DPQX
Knowledge of Product RSFs and Quality standards
Understanding of continuous improvement and root cause analysis
EHS‑focused mindset with experience in behavioural safety programmes (e.g. SEE & ACT)
Familiarity with Outlook, SAP, e‑Matrix
Mathematically competent with good organisational skills
