Tradewind are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Teaching Assistant to join the team in a Secondary school in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire.
The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will support pupils and Teachers in providing a supportive and welcoming educational setting in which to achieve to the best of their abilities.
Responsibilities:
1. Support the teacher in planning, delivering and assessing lessons in accordance with the national curriculum.
2. Work with individual children and small groups, providing differentiated support and encouragement to meet their specific needs.
3. Use a range of specialist strategies and resources to support children with autism, such as visual aids, social stories and sensory activities.
4. Assist in developing children's communication, social, emotional and behavioural skills.
5. Work collaboratively with parents, carers and other professionals to ensure the best outcomes for each child.
6. Help to maintain accurate records and progress reports to inform ongoing planning and assessment.
Requirements:
7. Experience of working with children or young people, knowledge or experience of supporting pupils with special educational needs (particularly autism) is an advantage but not essential.
8. A good command of maths and English and how to effectively support children
9. Ability to use a range of specialist strategies and resources to support children with autism.
10. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with parents, carers and other professionals.
11. Highly organised with good record-keeping skills.
12. Ability to work effectively as part of a team and demonstrate a positive, flexible and proactive attitude.
