Job Summary
The Offshore Construction Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and managing offshore construction activities, ensuring operations are executed safely, efficiently and in compliance with project plans and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee all offshore construction activities, including piling, steel works, reinforced concrete structures and other ancillary operations.
* Ensure that all works are executed according to project specifications, engineering designs and quality standards.
* Coordinate and direct work crews, subcontractors and equipment operators to maintain productivity and meet deadlines.
* Enforce strict adherence to Health, Safety, Wellbeing and Environmental policies and procedures for offshore operations.
* Conduct safety briefings, toolbox talks and risk assessments for all offshore activities in conjunction with the HSW department.
* Identify potential hazards and implement measures to mitigate risks.
* Follow the CEMP, MMO and Immingham Port regulations and ensure marine operations are in line with the DCO.
* Liaise with the project management team, engineers and stakeholders to ensure seamless communication and alignment of offshore construction activities.
* Monitor and adjust schedules, work plans and resource allocations to maintain progress.
* Ensure the timely delivery of materials, equipment and resources to offshore locations.
* Review engineering drawings, technical specifications and method statements to guide construction activities.
* Provide technical guidance and problem‑solving support to address challenges in piling, concrete pouring and steel assembly.
* Supervise the installation and alignment of structural components, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
* Inspect and monitor work to ensure adherence to quality standards and rectify non‑conformities.
* Maintain detailed records of work progress and quality checks for reporting purposes.
* Prepare and implement emergency response plans for offshore operations and lead incident investigations.
* Maintain accurate records of offshore construction activities, including daily logs, progress updates and workforce deployment.
* Act as Safety Coordinator and temporary work supervisor, always leading by example.
* Deliver regular toolbox talk briefings covering Health, Safety and Environmental issues and ensure records are maintained.
* Monitor subcontract works and ensure they are delivered in line with relevant RAMS.
Qualifications, Certifications and Experience
* Extensive experience as a Supervisor in offshore construction with a focus on piling, reinforced concrete, steel fabrication and marine ancillary works.
* Strong knowledge of offshore construction methods, equipment and safety protocols.
* Ability to interpret and apply engineering drawings and specifications.
* Familiarity with marine construction standards and regulations.
* Proven leadership skills to manage diverse offshore teams effectively.
* Certifications: Offshore survival training (e.g., BOSIET or STCW), and relevant safety certifications or professional experience.
* CSCS and SSSTS.
* Leadership experience on working crews, subcontractors, rented equipment and the client.
* Experience in organising activities, work shifts and coordination between activities performed by employees.
* Knowledge in preparing daily progress reports and daily production reports, scheduling downtime and estimating production outputs.
* Capability to train new workers and handle equipment properly.
* Ability to deal with subcontractors, inspectors, technical assistance and the client.
* Knowledge of quarry materials and specifications and criteria to accept or refuse materials.
* Experience in construction activities involving cranes: load‑lifting activities and other crane operations.
* Experience in maritime works, especially placing material to the sea (e.g., breakwaters, quays, sea‑front promenades).
* Accredited use of mobile equipment (loaders, excavators, rising platforms).
* Relevant experience as an Offshore Construction Supervisor on marine projects.
