FitzRoy Supported Living Services in Bury St Edmunds provide care & support for residents with learning difficulties and autism. We are seeking exceptional new support workers to join our friendly team– could this be you?
The position is based in a large house and a 1-bedroom flat in Risby, supporting gentlemen on the autistic spectrum who may present some challenging behaviors. These men are active and enjoy walking, so staff need to be willing to engage in outdoor activities daily. Driving is essential as public transport does not align with shift times, and the men have their own manual cars for outings. Staff should be willing to help the men try new things and participate in activities. Each gentleman requires 1-1 support, with some 2-1 support when going out. We have 1 wake-in night staff.
We need staff who are flexible, passionate about caring for people, and committed to helping residents live as independently as possible while ensuring their safety.
Typical day shift patterns include 0700 to 1430 and 1400 to 2200; availability for both shifts and weekends is required. Night shifts are from 2100 to 0700. We offer full-time (37.5 hours/week), part-time, and bank positions. A full driving license and willingness to drive our accessible vehicles are essential.
A support worker’s day is varied, requiring flexibility. You will provide care and support tailored to each person’s needs and wishes, helping them achieve their goals, and enabling them to have choice and control over their lives. Tasks include personal care, engaging in activities, and supporting a healthy, balanced lifestyle.
Night duties involve supporting nighttime and morning routines, personal care, domestic tasks, and responding promptly to support needs during the night. Additional responsibilities include cleaning and completing paperwork, along with supporting daily activities and interests.
