Senior Building Surveyor
Location: Huddersfield (with hybrid working options)
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Building Surveyor / Contract Administrator to join a well-established and expanding Contract Administration team. You'll be working alongside a mix of Building Surveyors, Quantity Surveyors and Project Managers ranging from recent graduates to senior professionals.
We're looking for someone who can balance being a strong team player with the ability to work independently and drive projects forward. Ideally, you'll have a minimum of 5 years' post-degree experience and be Chartered (or working towards Chartership).
The Role
You'll be involved in a wide variety of projects and responsibilities, including:
Acting as Contract Administrator
Preparing specifications and schedules of work
Carrying out site inspections and quality management
Attending site meetings and managing cost control
Design co-ordination and CDM Consultant / Principal Designer duties
Party Wall Act surveys and property surveys
Supporting and mentoring junior members of the team
Key project management duties include:
Interpreting and delivering project briefs and scopes of service
Building and maintaining strong client relationships
Managing project communication, including notices and certificates
Overseeing contractors on site through visits and meetings
Planning resources in line with project programmes and deliverables
Ensuring quality assurance and stage deliverables are met
Resolving project issues quickly and effectively to client satisfaction
Providing regular updates to senior management on progress and budgets
The Ideal Candidate
RICS or CIOB accredited construction degree
Minimum 5 years' post-qualification experience in both new build and refurbishment projects
Strong technical background and current experience providing similar services
Experience leading and mentoring junior team members
Confident communicator with proven client-facing experience
Ability to manage client relationships and service delivery on multiple projects
Willingness to travel throughout the UK
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work with autonomy
Full UK driving licence
