Primary Teaching Assistant – Southampton Pay: £13.75 per hour Contract: Full-time, Term-time only Start Date: September 2025 Teaching Personnel are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Primary Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Southampton (SO14) this September. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with children and wants to make a real difference in their learning and development. About the role: As a Teaching Assistant, you will be working alongside the class teacher to support pupils across different year groups. Your role will involve: Helping children understand and complete their work in lessons Leading small group activities in literacy, numeracy, and other subjects Providing one-to-one support for pupils who may need extra help Supporting pupils with special educational needs (SEN) as directed by the teacher Preparing classroom resources and helping to maintain a positive learning environment Encouraging good behaviour and promoting the school’s values What we’re looking for: Experience of working with children (school-based or in another setting) Good spoken and written English Patience, empathy, and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils A proactive and flexible approach to work An Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to apply for one) This role would suit someone who is thinking about a future career in teaching or education, or who simply enjoys helping children to achieve their best.
