Job Description
Nexus School is seeking a reliable and hardworking Lunchtime Cleaner to help maintain a high standard of cleanliness, hygiene, and safety during the school’s lunchtime period. This is a key role in ensuring a healthy environment for our pupils, many of whom have additional educational needs.
You will be part of a friendly and supportive site team, helping to clean the school dining areas and support with hygiene routines across the site.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in the school dining hall and surrounding areas during and after lunch
* Operate cleaning equipment safely and effectively (training provided)
* Remove waste and litter, empty bins, and restock hygiene supplies (soap, paper towels, etc.)
* Carry out emergency cleaning tasks as needed
* Follow Health & Safety regulations, including COSHH and manual handling procedures
* Report any hazards or maintenance issues promptly
* Support the wider school community with a positive, flexible attitude
Person Specification
Essential:
* Good literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE Grade C/4 or equivalent in English and Maths)
* Previous experience in cleaning or facilities roles
* Understanding of health, safety and hygiene procedures
* Able to work independently and as part of a team
* Strong communication skills and awareness of safeguarding procedures
* Positive, professional attitude and a willingness to learn
Desirable:
* Experience working in a school or around children
* Basic First Aid and/or COSHH training
* Familiarity with working in SEND environments
