CarmichaelUK is recruiting for an experienced Site Engineer to support an ongoing earthworks and drainage package on a major highways project in Gloucestershire. This is for an immediate start with a minimum 2 months’ work and strong potential to extend.
The ideal candidate will have proven experience delivering earthworks and drainage on large infrastructure schemes, combined with solid 2D CAD capability for producing sketches, reviewing drawings, and supporting the engineering team with quick-turnaround deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
Support delivery of earthworks and drainage works including mass haul, cut/fill operations, deep drainage, pipework, manholes, and surface water systems.
Manage daily engineering activities, permits, inspections, ITPs and QA documentation.
Coordinate with subcontractors to ensure progress aligns with programme and technical specifications.
Use 2D CAD to prepare redlines, simple sketches, construction details, and updates to as-built information.
Review drawings, raise TQs/RFIs, and assist with resolving technical queries.
Carry out basic survey checks, verify levels, and maintain accurate site records (if required).
Ensure all works are delivered safely, to quality standards, and in line with project procedures.
Requirements
Proven experience as a Site Engineer on earthworks/drainage packages.
Strong working knowledge of 2D CAD (AutoCAD or similar).
Good understanding of QA, ITPs, RAMS and site documentation.
Ability to coordinate subcontractors and communicate effectively with the engineering team.
CSCS essential; SSSTS/SMSTS desirable.
