About the Role

At Willow Park School, we believe every young person deserves to feel safe, valued and understood. We support pupils aged 9–16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and associated learning differences. Many of our pupils have experienced disrupted education, trauma and challenges that make trusting adults difficult — which is why our work matters so deeply.

We use a trauma‑informed approach to help pupils move from survival to success. If you are compassionate, resilient and ready to be a steady, trusted presence in a young person’s life, this could be the role where you truly make an impact.

Who We’re Looking For

This is far more than a classroom support role. As a Teaching Assistant at Willow Park, you will become a key figure in a pupil’s day — someone who helps them regulate, engage and believe in themselves again.

You will:

1. Support learning in the classroom and during off‑site activities
2. Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils who need consistency
3. Use trauma‑informed strategies to support emotional regulation
4. Adapt learning to meet individual EHCP outcomes
5. Work closely with teachers, therapists and the Inclusion Team
6. Record progress, behaviour and safeguarding concerns accurately
7. Promote independence, confidence and a sense of belonging

Every day will bring new challenges and new reasons to be proud of the difference you’re making.

What you will bring

You’ll thrive here if you are:

8. Level 2 English and Maths or willing to undertake
9. Calm, caring and emotionally resilient
10. Able to set clear boundaries with warmth and consistency
11. A strong communicator and collaborative team player
12. Passionate about helping vulnerable young people succeed
13. Adaptable and confident working across classrooms and outdoor learning
14. Committed to safeguarding and professional integrity
15. Driving Licence is required

We look forward to reading your supporting statement in response to the person specification
