You will provide services to members of the Farmers Union of Wales (FUW). You will be experienced and knowledgeable of current and potential future Welsh Government schemes available for farmers and are able to complete most grant applications on behalf of members of the FUW. Ideally you will have experience in delivering on-farm advice and have a strong working knowledge of the agriculture sector.
You will also be responsible for supporting the County Executive Officer in ensuring that all internal meetings and member committees that form the democratic basis of the organisation are held timely and effectively. You will be responsible for communicating and explaining agricultural policy to the members as well as ensuring that the members' opinions are communicated internally through the FUW reporting system.
As the Deputy CEO you will also be responsible for supporting the CEO in building and developing our relationship as a Union with local stakeholders such as local authorities, elected representatives and other relevant stakeholders.
You will be supported by your colleagues across north Wales and the head office team. You will also be expected to work closely with our agricultural policy team and our staff in other parts of Wales.
The role will require the successful candidate to travel across North Wales as required to support client and business needs. You will need to contribute to the development and structure of the FUWs agri-environmental services across North Wales.
About you:
A degree in Agricultural/Environmental Science or a related subject would be desirable. A qualification, or a willingness to work towards a qualification such as FACTS / BASIS would also be an advantage. You will also have a thorough understanding of the farming industry at national and UK levels.

* Promoting and selling other services provided by FUW
* Providing advice with regards to environmental and agri-environmental rules and processes to our members
* Establishing and maintaining strong local networks concentrating on the needs of the agricultural sector.
