Trainee Accountant
Location: Pontyclun
Hours: Fully office-based, Monday to Friday, 36.5 hours per week
Salary: £26,500 per annum plus full AAT / ACCA study support
Môrwell Talent Solutions is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of an established and highly respected business in its search for a motivated Trainee Accountant to join its growing finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual looking to build a long-term career in accountancy while studying towards a professional qualification alongside full-time employment.
The role offers broad exposure across a diverse group of businesses, providing hands-on experience in core accounting functions and developing strong commercial awareness. You will be supported by an experienced finance team with a proven track record of developing and promoting talent internally.
Key Responsibilities -
The successful candidate will provide support across all areas of the finance function, including but not limited to:
Preparation of departmental and site-level accounts
Posting and preparation of month-end journals (including accruals and cost of sales)
Assisting with month-end stock reporting
Preparation and reconciliation of intercompany balances
Processing and review of purchase ledger invoices
Auditing purchase ledger payment runs and bank detail checks
Nominal ledger analysis and investigation of variances
Preparation of VAT schedules
Accounting and administration relating to imports
Posting and reconciliation of credit card statements
Supporting the preparation of monthly management information packs
Assisting with bank payments and cash flow administration
Supporting finance-related customer queries and administration
Assisting with budgeting and forecasting models in Excel
Ad-hoc reporting, reconciliations and general finance administration as required
Candidate Profile -
Basic accounting knowledge and sound double-entry understanding (advantageous)
Strong Excel skills, including lookups and pivot tables
Good organisational skills and the ability to manage workload effectively
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Self-motivated, proactive and confident working on own initiative
Ability to work accurately under tight deadlines
Eager to learn with a positive, hands-on attitude
Experience using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
