A client within the Public Sector based in Leicestershire is currently recruiting for a Building Control Surveyor to join their team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, contract position on an ongoing basis. The ideal candidate will have experience working within a local authority.
The Role
The key purpose of this role is to ensure the health, public safety, welfare, and convenience of persons in or around buildings and structures subject to Building Control procedures.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
1. Examine deposited plans to ensure proposed work meets relevant requirements.
2. Conduct site visits to verify that building work complies with the Building Act and other legislation.
3. Visit sites, prepare reports, and take action regarding dangerous structures and demolition sites.
4. Enforce legal requirements related to non-compliant building work.
5. Inspect sports grounds under the Sports Grounds Act, including temporary stands used for sports and entertainment events.
The Candidate
To be considered, you must be a registered Class 2 (a-f) Building Surveyor.
Essential requirements include:
* Experience assessing building work for health and safety compliance and recommending necessary changes to meet Building Regulations and legislation.
* Experience ensuring fire safety and safe egress in buildings and sports grounds.
* Experience protecting the public regarding dangerous structures, demolitions, and sports grounds.
* Ability to ensure building work includes provisions for fuel and power conservation.
* Knowledge of enforcing access and facilities requirements for disabled persons as per Building Regulations.
The client aims to move quickly on this role and is offering between £40 - £50 per hour Umbrella Ltd.
