The role: An inspiring and impactful teacher is required to teach in our dynamic Physical Education Department. Working closely with our enthusiastic and ambitious Director of Sport, they will play a critical role in the crafting and delivery of the curriculum from EYFS through to KS5. The successful candidate will be a passionate subject advocate, eager to communicate their enthusiasm for sport and physical activity in order to encourage NWC girls to strive for success, whilst also developing an understanding of the importance of an active lifestyle. They will be a flexible team player, committed to supporting their departmental colleagues and they will readily contribute to the wider life of the department and school through extra-curricular squads, clubs and fixtures. They will have the ability to coach more than one sport to a high standard, with particular expertise in football, netball, hockey, badminton, tennis or athletics being an advantage. This post is to cover a maternity absence and will be for a minimum of two terms. The Department: The Physical Education Department is a positive and dedicated team of eight, led by our enthusiastic Director of Sport who is keen to develop competitive sport, whilst also encouraging participation and a love of physical activity. The department delivers the full Physical Education curriculum across EYFS to KS5, which includes swimming and a range of traditional and contemporary sports. We offer academic courses at KS4 (AQA GCSE) and KS5 (AQA/OCR A Level). The department has some excellent facilities including a large 4 badminton court sports hall, an indoor 6 lane 25 metre swimming pool, two netball / tennis courts, a small astro-turf which caters for a further two netball courts, a hockey D and multi-use pitch, a large grass pitch and a long jump pit. There is also a 7 metre high, five line climbing wall that includes 3 auto belays and a 30 metre traversing wall. We run an extensive extra-curricular programme, with competitive and development squads in netball, swimming, hockey, badminton, dance, gymnastics, football, tennis, athletics and cricket. It is vital that the successful candidate is fully committed to offering expertise in specific sports, whilst also being flexible in offering other activities if required within the extra-curricular offer at NWC. We currently compete in the majority of Hillingdon Borough leagues and competitions, as well as regular fixtures against a range of independent schools. We also benefit from entering teams in GDST rallies, which take place twice a term and offer girls the opportunity to compete at a high level against other GDST schools in a wide range of sports.
