We deliver high-quality catering and hospitality services year-round across the Etihad Stadium and Co-op Live arena, supporting events for Manchester City Football Club and some of the biggest names in entertainment. With a growing team of over 80 permanent staff and around 3,000 casual workers, through teamwork, innovation and excellence we support 150 live events annually. About the Role The Kitchen Operations Chef plays a key leadership role in ensuring the smooth running of day-to-day kitchen activities. This position oversees the prep kitchen and culinary teams while ensuring high standards of food safety, compliance, and operational efficiency. You’ll lead by example in the kitchen — coordinating the team managing prep as well as the structural and compliance aspects of the day to day operation — while also contributing to essential admin and compliance functions. Day to Day Key Responsibilities Kitchen Operations & Administration Support daily kitchen service, ensuring a clean, safe, and well-organised working environment. Lead the preparation kitchen and chefs during prep and event days, ensuring smooth coordination and high standards. Help track and monitor food and labour costs, providing input on cost efficiency. Support event planning by coordinating prep lists with Sous Chefs and Head Chefs and ensuring production is in line with specs, standards and par levels. Food Safety & Compliance Champion food hygiene and safety practices throughout the kitchen. Experience with FSMS and online compliance recording systems Support completion of food safety, hygiene, and sanitation checks in line with company policy and legal standards. Organise and maintain accurate records for compliance audits, training, and food safety practices. Expertise in managing allergen processes. Keeping the sitewide Allergen matrix up to date and accurate Team Leadership & Coordination Act as a lead figure for casual chefs and prep kitchen teams, supporting shift leadership under the direction of the Executive Chef. Provide day-to-day guidance to casual chefs and kitchen assistants during prep and event days. Act as a key point of contact for kitchen team queries and provide operational updates. Collaborate with front-of-house teams and management to ensure seamless event execution. Administrative Support Assist with filing of key kitchen documentation (e.g., Menus, prep lists, recipes/specs). Assist in creation of recipes/specs and keeping costings up to date Assist in menu development and tastings Assist in keeping recipe bank up to date in ADACO Assist with placing orders in a timely manor Qualifications & Skills Required: Previous experience in a professional kitchen, ideally at Sous Chef, Senior Chef de Partie, or similar level. Strong understanding of kitchen operations, food safety standards, and hygiene regulations. Experience in leading and coordinating kitchen teams, particularly in a fast-paced or event-driven environment. Competence in food safety record-keeping and kitchen compliance documentation. Excellent communication skills and ability to liaise with internal teams and external partners (e.g., suppliers, agencies). Strong organisational skills with attention to detail. Strong IT skills (Microsoft Excel, Outlook). Preferred: Level 3 Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to obtain). Experience working with agency staff and casual kitchen teams. Familiarity with kitchen cost tracking and budget awareness. Comfortable taking part in Audits with outside partner Experience with ordering, recipe production, menu design and engineering Comfortable working with multiple stakeholders and partners Applications Deadline All applications must be submitted by 31 st July 2025.
