Role Overview
The Depot Engineering Manager seeks a motivated individual to join as a DEM Technician. This role involves technical investigations, fault analysis, report generation, reliability maintenance, fault finding, procedure development, process mapping, environmental issues, competency assessments, training, project management, and audits.
Main Responsibilities
1. Liaise with suppliers and serve as the point of contact for warranty and contract reviews, both on and off depot.
2. Support production teams in delivering and improving train performance through process and modification enhancements.
3. Support all GWR depots as part of an integrated team.
4. Deputise for the Depot Engineering Manager when needed.
5. Assess operational competencies in the workplace.
6. Conduct inductions for external and internal teams.
7. Collaborate with the management team to meet depot needs.
8. Manage calibrated tooling and equipment to ISO standards.
Candidate Requirements
1. High attention to detail, procedural compliance, and documentation skills.
2. Excellent IT skills, including proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other relevant software.
3. Recognised apprenticeship and/or NVQ Level 3 in engineering or equivalent; electrical bias preferred.
4. 18th Edition wiring regulations certification.
5. Knowledge of Network Rail standards, environmental legislation, and depot plant systems is advantageous.
6. Willingness to obtain internal auditor qualification.
Additional Information
The role primarily involves day shifts but may require out-of-hours work and travel to other sites. Ongoing training will be provided.
