This is an ideal role for someone with significant post qualification experience who wants to develop their career within a small team in a growing department lead by a forward-looking research and development manager. About the role: Managing end to end design projects, w orking closely with other disciplines including electronics, mechatronics and physics Design 3D models for bespoke magnetic shielding for customers worldwide Client/sales team liaison to identify design requirements Produce detailed engineering/manufacturing drawing with BOM’s Produce standard operating procedures to detail manufacturing and assembly methods Produce technical documents, reports and presentations for internal and external use Key Responsibilities: Review and interpret customer technical requirements, including drawings and documentation. Translate technical specifications into clear, actionable production paperwork. Generate Bills of Materials (BOMs), routings, and work orders for manufacturing. Collaborate with physicists, engineers, and production teams to develop viable manufacturing solutions. Support the estimating team to issue timely and accurate quotations. Manage and align customer expectations through clear communication and follow-up. Essential Skills/Experience: At least five years of relevant post-graduate (ideally industrial) experience Hold a relevant engineering degree in the field of mechanical/design engineering Full lifecycle design experience – concept design, 2D/3D modelling, engineering drawings and designing for manufacture as well as maintenance and design improvement considerations Strong experience using 3D CAD software (Ideally Autodesk Inventor or Solidworks) Strong experience of engineering drawing standards and tolerancing Experience of tolerance analysis including manufactured parts and assembly tolerance stack up Able to work proactively and autonomously after initial settling in period Strong communicator with experience working collaboratively with all areas of an organisation, along with external partners Experience with use of ERP or MRP systems i.e.: SAGE, Oracle, Progress Plus Proven project management skills and experience Proficient IT skills with strong knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint Desirable Skills: Experience working with parametric modelling techniques and multibody parts Experience of working with precision sheet metal and machined products Experience using Autodesk Vault Professional experience of FEA Experience of working in an ISO 9001 accredited Engineering company Experience with polymers and composites Lean manufacturing experience i.e.: 5S or Six Sigma Experience with continuous improvement systems and techniques We acknowledge that the most valuable aspect of business, is the people, and we are looking to recruit the next generation of our workforce!
