Job Overview
Applications are invited for consultant posts, totalling 10 PAs, based at The James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough. This is a new post and the successful applicant will join a dedicated team of stroke and neurology consultants providing stroke, neurology and associated rehab services, including outpatient clinics, ward rounds and consultations on other wards. A special interest in dystonia and spasticity, supplementing the existing interests of colleagues, is preferred. Research and academic activity are encouraged.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain the highest clinical standards in the practice of Neurology and Neurophysiology.
* Cover for colleagues’ annual leave and other authorised absences.
* Provide professional supervision and management of resident medical staff.
* Be actively involved in the management of the department, including attendance at the fortnightly Consultant/Directorate meetings and regular consultant away days.
* Take part in annual appraisals (mandatory for all Consultants), carried out by the Clinical Director. Appropriate time and assistance will be provided for preparation.
* Active involvement in audit.
* Involvement in research – Joint research projects are undertaken with both the University of Teesside and Durham University, and further development of research links is encouraged.
* Continuing professional development.
* Any other duties which may be required.
DBS Clearance
All successful candidates who are new to the Trust and require DBS clearance for the post will be required to pay the cost of their DBS. The cost will be recovered via salary deduction from the first month’s pay.
