Electrical Engineer – Estates Maintenance

Are you an experienced Electrical Engineer ready to take the next step in your career? Join our dynamic Estates Maintenance Team and play a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) systems across a large, high-profile estate.

This is a varied, hands-on role combining planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive maintenance, and technical project support. Key Responsibilities

* Engineering & Operational Support
o Provide electrical engineering support across multiple buildings, resolving faults and delivering technical guidance where required.
o Carry out PPM, reactive maintenance, and minor works to a high professional standard.
o Respond to emergency situations and participate in the engineering call-out rota.
* Compliance & Safety
o Ensure all work is completed in accordance with Safe Systems of Work and current Health & Safety legislation.
o Supervise contractors, ensuring inductions, permits, and compliance procedures are followed.
o Act as a Safety Champion, proactively identifying and mitigating health and safety risks.
* Systems & Maintenance Management
o Coordinate planned system shutdowns safely and efficiently.
o Maintain plant and equipment to maximise reliability, operational efficiency, and lifecycle value.
o Ensure accurate records are maintained to meet legal, statutory, and client requirements.
o Monitor stock levels of consumables and critical electrical spares.
* Resource & Job Management
o Plan and prioritise workloads across multiple buildings, balancing PPM and reactive maintenance demands.
o Raise material requests, obtain quotations, and manage associated documentation.
o Manage work orders through CAFM systems, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
* Personal & Technical Development
o Maintain up-to-date knowledge of UK electrical standards, including 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).
o Develop broader technical knowledge across mechanical and electrical systems.
o Review O&M manuals and recommend improvements to PPM schedules.
o Participate in training and progression toward Low Voltage Authorised Person (LV AP) duties.
* Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
o Work closely with supervisors, managers, and colleagues to deliver a high-quality maintenance service.
o Liaise with subcontractors regarding specifications, quotations, and materials.
o Promote teamwork, knowledge sharing, and proactive problem-solving.


Person Specification

* Qualifications
o City & Guilds Parts 1 & 2 or NVQ Level 2–3 in Electrical Installation (or equivalent).
o 18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).
o Knowledge of SFG20 Maintenance Specification.
o Relevant building maintenance and Health & Safety training (e.g., First Aid, MEWP, PASMA, Water Treatment, LMS, BMS).
o Membership of a professional engineering body (desirable).
* Knowledge & Experience
o Strong technical knowledge of electrical systems within building maintenance environments.
o Experience working within multi-disciplinary teams across complex facilities.
o Familiarity with CAFM systems, asset management tools, and mobile/PDA technology.
* Skills & Attributes
o Excellent fault-finding, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
o Strong IT skills, including MS Office and CAFM systems.
o Clear and confident communication skills when working with colleagues, contractors, and stakeholders.
o Proactive, adaptable, and customer-focused approach.
