Job Summary
Swadlincote Surgery has an exciting opportunity for a GP to join the practice on a permanent position. The role will involve 4–6 sessions per week with one on‑call every 2–3 weeks. The preferred start date is Summer/Autumn of this year.
Responsibilities
Provide a full range of medical services and additional enhanced services where appropriate.
Attend surgery and telephone consultations, home visits, and manage repeat prescriptions, paperwork and correspondence.
Record clear and contemporaneous computer‑based consultation notes to agreed standards.
Make professional, autonomous decisions on presenting problems, whether self‑referred or referred from other healthcare workers.
Assess health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
Provide counselling and health education.
Collect data for audit purposes.
Compile and issue computer‑generated acute and repeat prescriptions, avoiding hand‑written prescriptions whenever possible.
Prescribe in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) when clinically appropriate.
Fulfil all normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP in primary care.
Maintain awareness of and comply with all relevant practice policies and guidelines (prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety).
Commit to lifelong learning and audit to ensure evidence‑based best practice.
Contribute to evaluation/audit and clinical standard setting within the organisation.
Contribute to development of computer‑based patient records and summarisation of patient records and Read‑Coding patient data.
Attend training and events organised by the practice or other agencies where appropriate.
About Us Swadlincote Surgery is a long‑established training practice with a list size of 14,000 patients. The GP role benefits from the support of an experienced clinical and administrative practice team. We are actively involved with the local PCN and are forward‑thinking in developing new initiatives and enhanced services for our patients. The practice is a teaching practice.

Person Specification Experience
Good understanding and experience of chronic disease management, and primary prevention and screening services.
Ability to take responsibility for your own career development, learning and performance and to ensure all mandatory training is up to date.
Awareness of and compliance with all relevant practice policies and guidelines (prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety).
Commitment to lifelong learning and audit to ensure evidence‑based best practice.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Qualifications
Fully qualified GP with GMC registration.
Annual appraisal and revalidation (when appropriate).
Be on the NHSE medical performers list.
